Tailgate Tuna Melts Recipe


  • 1 14-inch Pizza Shell – trimmed into 2 football shapes
  • 2 6-oz. Cans White Meat Tuna (oil or water) – drained
  • 3 T Minced Celery
  • 3 T Minced Green Onion
  • 3 T Chopped Jalapeño
  • 2 T Sweet Pickle Relish
  • 1 t Salt
  • 1 t Black Pepper
  • 1 t Garlic Powder
  • 4 Slices American Cheese


First, fire up your CBO oven to 500°F – use an infrared temperature gun to check temp when ready. Cut the pizza shell in half straight down the middle. Trim each cut side half to form the shape of a football. Combine all ingredients, except cheese, in a medium bowl. Spread tuna mixture evenly over surface of each football-shaped shell. Cut each cheese slice in half and layer pieces evenly on each football to cover tuna. Top with stuffed Jalapeño peppers, or make football laces with pepper strips if desired.

Bake for two minutes or until cheese is melted. (We like it blackened!) Let cool 1 minute before serving.

Makes 2 Footballs: 3-6 Servings Each
